Purposeful.Money started in 2017

Purposeful.Money is a trading style of PFM Associates Limited. PFM is one of the south coast’s largest Chartered Financial Planning firms and has been trading since 1999. Having managed socially responsible portfolios for 10 years, PFM decided to create a dedicated division in 2017 to focus advice on purposeful investing. The experience, expertise and passion of the PFM team coupled with the evolution of the market for this type of investing, provided the perfect platform to develop Purposeful. Money.

Building on our experience, we have created a more active approach to socially responsible investing. Something more... “purposeful”. Our portfolios are screened to incorporate investments that make a positive impact on the environment and address social concerns such workplace diversity and fair trade. We don’t screen our funds for negative factors as we believe that if a firm chooses not to do something (e.g. manufacture guns), then it probably means another firm will, so the net impact is zero. Our portfolios are designed to produce equivalent returns when compared to portfolios that are not screened. We believe this is a much better approach to investing, and we want to share it with you.

We also intend to influence fund managers in their approach to investing purposefully. We want to ensure that funds that claim to be making a positive impact, truly are. All our funds are analysed by professionals with expertise in this form of investing.

To help clients invest in a more purposeful way:

We are authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and we will be giving you advice. You will therefore be covered by all the applicable rules and regulations covering the UK Financial Services.

Purposeful growth...

We donate 10% of all our profits to local purposeful initiatives. In the context of climate change, local is global, and in recognition of this fact, we are sponsoring a reforestation project in northern Thailand. In conjunction with Chiang Mai University and local communities we are able to measure the CO2 absorption impact of this initiative using drone and 3D modeling technology.
